Visual Arts Exhibition “I See Colours” – Diane Din Ebongue
A visual arts exhibition titled “I See Colours” will be held from November 3 to 16, 2024, at The Grand in Calgary.
Visitors will experience the following:
A Discovery of Skin Tones: Through photographs, videos, and interactive installations, “I See Colours” reveals the science behind how we perceive skin, highlighting the interplay of light and matter, and celebrating diversity.
Reflection on Identity: This exhibition invites visitors to think critically about how they view themselves and others, sparking discussions around representation and inclusion.
Celebrating Our Shared Humanity: By exploring the richness and complexity of skin tones, “I See Colours” reminds us that we are all connected, and that our differences are a source of richness.
Community Engagement Activities:
To enhance this experience, we offer guided tours and free workshops led by the artist. These sessions are designed especially for community groups, with age-appropriate activities and discussions available in both English and French:
- Pocket Cinema: Participants will explore the challenges of accurately capturing skin tones on film, learning practical filmmaking techniques with limited equipment.
- Photography Basics: Beginners will learn photography fundamentals and explore techniques for effectively capturing various skin tones.
For All Ages: The exhibition and workshops are suitable for individuals and groups of all ages.
